Citation glossary

When ChatGPT or Perplexity names a shop, the answer often leans on a public page. Mentionmill shows those cited links when the pass returns them. We do not invent URLs. These four hosts show up a lot for local trades. They are sources, not partners, and not a rank.

Yelp

Review pages and category lists. A model that names three plumbers in Austin may point at Yelp because the page already lists shops, ratings, and a city. Being on Yelp does not mean you will be named. Being missing from a Yelp page they cited is a This week job: get listed or cited there, then recheck.

Angi

Angi (once Angie’s List) is another directory answers reuse. Homeowner prompts — plumber, HVAC, roofer — often pull from those category pages. If the pass cited angi.com and skipped your name, the listing on that host is more useful than a sixth blog post.

Google Business Profile

Answers sometimes lean on a Maps / Business Profile style page: name, city, category, hours. Mentionmill does not read your GBP for you. If a cited link is a Google listing, make the name, city, and trade match the site. That is the same matching step in This week. It does not guarantee a mention.

Better Business Bureau

BBB pages get cited when a model wants a “trusted” third party. A clean BBB profile can appear next to a competitor who was named. If bbb.org showed up and you were Not named, look at that profile. If you were Named, stay on it. We do not sell accreditation.

Other hosts appear too — Wikipedia, news, the shop’s own site. This week uses hostnames from that pass only. Run a prompt to see which of these, if any, showed up for you.
